Blu-ray players popular in Australia

Many don't even think about buying a Blu-ray player at this moment, and they will probably wait until next fall. Samsung recently released a new home theater system, called the HT-BD2T, in Australia. After a few weeks we can say that this product is extremely popular on the far-flung continent. CTV/AV manager, Jeff Peake said in an interview with Current.com.au that he does what he can to answer the immense demand from Australia's retailers. Why is Blu-ray growing in popularity in Australia?

Peake says you can find the reason in Australia's history, their decision fits their profile. 'It’s just a real testament to the Australian consumer that once the technology is set, tend to jump on it pretty quickly,' he said. Because of its high demand the BD2T wasn't available, but retailers don't have to be concerned, since they are assured that shipments will start 'very quickly'.

Blu-ray's recent succes in Australia shows that the format is at 'its tipping point before it explodes in popularity', Peake says. With Australia being one of the top two markets for Samsung, I want to know if our Australian visitors have noticed a rise in popularity.
