BTC DRW1008IM 8x DVD±RW review at CDRLabs.com

Today we can find a new review over at CDRLabs.This time they've taken a look at the BTC DRW1008IM 8x DVD±RW. The drive is capable of 8x DVD+R, 4x DVD-R/DVD+RW and 2x DVD-RW writing speeds and can read DVD's at speeds as high as 12x.

To be honest, I'm not really sure how I feel about BTC's new DVD writer. On one hand, DRW1008IM has many of the features found on more expensive drives. The drive boasts some of the fastest reading and writing speeds available on a DVD writer and, for the most part, it delivered as advertised. Unfortunately, there were also a few things that prevented us from giving the DRW1008IM our stamp of approval.

Like the other dual format DVD writers we've looked at lately, the DRW1008IM can write to DVD+R media at 8x. While this looks good on paper, the drive did not perform as well as I had expected. In our tests, the DRW1008IM trailed behind the competition, taking almost 10 minutes to write 4GB of data. BTC's new drive did much better when writing to other types of recordable DVD media. In fact, the DRW1008IM had some of the fastest writing times I've seen with DVD-R and DVD-RW media.
