CD-ROM roundup @ CDRlabs.com

Our friens at CDRlabs have done some serious reviewing by doing a CD-ROM roundup. In this roundup they tested seven CD-ROM drives from AOpen, Afreey, Artec, Creative, Delta, I/O Magic and LG.

They tested the drives for their data transfer performance and digital audio extraction performance.

Part of conclusion:

So what drive do I recommend as the best? When I sat down to think about which drive I liked best, there wasn't one drive that stood out. There were a few drives that performed very well for a few of the tests but then fell way behind for others. After much thought my top choice is the Afreey 56x CD-ROM. In this roundup the Afreey drive was the fastest when it came to reading pressed and CD-R media, and of course blew away the others when it came to DAE. Unfortunately it was one of the slowest drives when it came to reading CD-RW media. If you can overlook this shortcoming, you'll be on your way to ripping audio in style.

CDRlabs is planning to have a second roundup with even more drives !
