CDRLabs posts first results with DVD-R dual layer discs

Our
friends from CDRLabs have updated the reviews of the Pioneer DVDR-A09XL and the
Plextor PX-716A with results of DVD-R DL burns. The DVD-R DL discs were sent to
them by Verbatim with the media code: "MKM 01RD30" which are even certified to
write at 6x which the Plextor did. The drive wrote the entire disc in about 19
minutes. The Pioneer used about 22 minutes to write the full 8.5 GB to the disc.
Also the write quality of the discs was tested.

Part of
Plextor review:

Testing went smoothly with PlexTools
Professional XL. Looking at the graph above, you can see that the PI
errors remained fairly low throughout the entire disc. Unfortunately, the
Lite-On SOHW-1633S that I normally use with KProbe had some problems
reading the disc. Instead of testing at 4x, the drive's actual read speed
was closer to 2x. Nevertheless, it was able to complete the test.

drive then click here. If you would like to read the update for the Pioneer, then
