CDRoller v5.31 is released - now retrieves data from DVD

jellybelly used our news submit to tell us about a program he found called CDRoller. This program is desiged as a tool for data recovery. Here are some of the programs features listed below:

Key Features:

  • Effectively retrieves the data from the discs created by "drag and drop" CD writing software, such as well-known Roxio (Adaptec) DirectCD and Ahead Nero software packages.
  • Recovers CD data created by Sony digital cameras that record directly onto disks.
  • "On-the-fly" unpacks the files initially compressed by Roxio (Adaptec) DirectCD.
  • Retrieves back up files from the disks recorded in several stages (multisession disks).
  • Finds and retrieves the lost files on UDF disks, including: accidently deleted files, files on quick-formatted disk, files on incorrectly closed disk, etc.
  • Rescues the data from scratched, damaged or defective discs.
  • Provides direct access to the hardware, bypassing the Windows File System.
  • Looks for the lost tracks (sessions) every time when you insert a new disc into the drive- Digitally extracts audio tracks into a wide set of wave formats.
  • Tests CD readability.
  • Extracts ISO Image file.
  • Catalogs files and folders into CD library.

Changelog:

  • "Forced scan" option of Scan UDF Disc is updated.
  • Added options for data recovery off the DVD+R discs created by Sanyo DVD+R/RW recorder (standalone device).
  • Minor bugs fixed.

One new feature that is a little mind boggling, is the "Built in File Identifier". Apparently, even if the file is so damaged that the extension is lost, the program can read the content and re-associate the data with the proper extension. You can visit the site for a download and right now they are offering a 3 year license for only US$ 29.95. They have a trial download as well, usually these type of programs will allow you to determine the possibility of retrieval, by showing you which files it can recover if you should decide to buy it.
