Corsair will introduce its latest 32GB USB flash Voyager and Survivor pen drives at CES 2008, doubling the capacity of its largest USB flash pen drives currently available. Both drives are bootable and can be used to store a complete operating system along with applications and data, useful for troubleshooting or to carry a complete OS on the move without involving a delicate hard disk.
Like its current Voyager and Survivor series, the Voyager version features a proprietary all-rubber case and the Survivor is aluminium-encased and water-proof. According to Corsair, the 32GB drive can carry 16 full length high definition movies or a complete TV series season. They come bundled with a lanyard, security software & driver preloaded and USB extension cable and are backed by a 10 year limited warranty.
The manufacturer's suggested retail price for the Flash Voyager and Flash Survivor are US$229.99 and US$249.99 respectively. At this price, it is not a drive one would want to accidentally leave behind at an Internet Café; however, it would be useful for those with laptops without the risk of having external HDD get damaged by shock or falling. Those with the popular 7” ASUS EEE laptop would find it useful upgrade over the limited storage capacity between the internal SSD and what ever fits the SD slot, such as for carrying a collection of movies on the move.
