Crunched signals irritate HD enthusiasts

We've already reported about this a couple of times, but a recent article from the Associated Press shows how some enthusiasts are losin' it. We all heard about the troubles at Comcast, where many consumers had low-resolution images, but paid for a high-def package. Main reason behind this is the broadcaster's search for the limits... Many consumers want more channels in their package, but cable and satellite providers have reached their limits resulting in crunched signals and poor imaging.

It's plain logic that cable and satellite providers choose for a full package, since investing in its infrastructure or launching more satellites is definitely expensive. Besides that, we've heard about a few satellites not reaching their destination, resulting in more expenses for the providers. Through research we know it should be unnoticeable to the human eye when images are compressed, but some consumers said they definitely saw the difference...

How this will develop can't be said yet. In the first place some consumers still believe it isn't bad enough to change or switch from their current provider. If consumers continue to think like this, nothing will change, and providers will continue their money-saving expedition.
