Our friends from CDRLabs.com have wrapped up a new review. This time they've taken a look at the CyberDrive CW099D writer, a drive capable of reading and writing at 52X. Re-writing is done at a maximum speed of 24X:
![]() We've had the CW099D in the 'Labs for a few weeks now and have had the time to put it through its paces. To give you an idea of what to expect from CyberDrive's new 52x writer, we'll take a look at the CW099D's performance as well as its features to see how it compares to the 52x writers from CenDyne and ASUS. Does CyberDrive have another award winner here? Is it the best bang for your buck? Keep reading to find out. |
Part of the Conclusion:
After using the CW099D for a few weeks, I'm not really sure how I feel about it. On one hand, CyberDrive's new writer has some of the fastest CD read speeds we've seen. The CW099D was able to read pressed data CD's at 52x without breaking a sweat. The drive also had some very good seek times, no matter what media we were using. The CW099D's DAE speeds were very good. In our tests the drive had no problems ripping audio CD's at 51x. The only drive with faster DAE speeds was ASUS's 52x writer. And then, the difference wasn't much.
On the other hand, the CW099D's writing performance was not as good as it could have been. While the drive had one of the highest average writing speeds we've seen, its actual writing times were slower than some of the other 52x writers we've looked at lately.
Overall the CyberDrive CW099D gets a score of 8/10. If you're interested in reading the complete review you can do so right here.
