CyberLink adds XAVC S support to PowerDirector 12 - free upgrade

Cyberlink today announced that PowerDirector 12 now supports creating and producing Ultra-HD 4K content through support of the XAVC S format. Ultra-HD 4K is the industry standard for ultra-high definition and is increasingly featured on televisions, and now, camcorders, and was prominently featured as a flagship technology at the recently-completed Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

With the emergence of Sony high-definition camcorders in the consumer market, the Sony XAVC S video format has been widely adopted. To ensure the most comprehensive Ultra-HD 4K video editing experience, CyberLink has added support for the XAVC S video format to PowerDirector 12.

XAVC S is the consumer version of the high-end  XAVC format and supports resolutions up to 3840 × 2160 and uses MP4 as the container format. For its audio it supports either either AAC or LPCM.

With XAVC S format support, PowerDirector supports video clips with maximum resolution of 4K (3,840 x 2,160), with MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 compression, up to 60 frames per second, and up to 150Mbps. The XAVC S format support is available for existing PowerDirector 12 users as a free update. New customers can  purchase the latest version of PowerDirector 12 from the CyberLink online store.
