strengthens focus on Japan
Reutte, Austria, 7th June 2006: DaTARIUS
Technologies GmbH, leading developer of test and optimization equipment, has
announced the opening of an office in Japan.
The new office is located in Tokyo and its
activities, in addition to serving the DaTARIUS customers in the region, will
focus on its work with format developers such as the DVD Forum (HD DVD) and the
BDA (Blu-ray Disc Association). As members of both associations, DaTARIUS is
instrumental in working with the developments and technology of existing and
future formats. Mr Nozomu Hayatsu has been appointed to the newly-created
position of Managing Director of DaTARIUS Japan.

Group," says Hayatsu. 'Japan is the base of HD DVD/BD development and I am
confident that the DaTARIUS HD DVD/BD solutions will contribute to the success
of these formats."

staff all travel extensively to Japan to work with our customers and partners.
The DaTARIUS presence in Japan was also recently highlighted by the fact that Dr
Wlodek Mischke, our Director of Research, has been appointed as a leader in the
recordable HD DVD Calibration Working Group."
In addition to the increased synergy with format
developers and customers, DaTARIUS will also expand its work and co-operation
with leading names in the industry, such as Sony, Toshiba, TDK, and Mitsubishi
Kagaku Media.
'Japan is the cradle of every new optical media
format," says Joan Lu, Managing Director DaTARIUS Asia-Pacific. 'We have always
had a strong presence in Japan and, with our increasing activity here, it was a
logical move to open an office in the capital city. In addition to our work with
the format developers, we want to be closer to our Japanese customers to support
them as they move forward into the development and manufacture of blue
media."
