By way of Burnup.cx we find out that ZDnet Japan has posted that the DVD Forum, the developers of the DVD-R(W) format have also introduced a technology similair to Mount Rainier as introduced by the DVD+R(W) format.
The technology called DRT-DM should make it possble to access DVD-RW discs like a floppy drive and should also incorporate management of defective media.

If the DRT-DM, as recognized even from the above-mentioned point, excludes the point where management mode for the AV is loaded, basically " the Mt.Rainier for the DVD-RW media " is. Because of this, the aim of DRT-DM decision as the Mt.Rainier as for to the almost same place being you are not wrong. Until you say, without, as for that in the DVD-RW it is to standardize necessary function as a data storage for the PC. This function, there being a DVD+RW standard, is something which has been lacking in present DVD-RW standard.
The convenient recording type which uses the loss less linking, " restricted over write " originally is prepared in the DVD-RW. This recording type, at present, with the PC, is used with the packet light/write software mainly, when image is recorded with the DVD-R/RW recorder even, is used. With the DVD-RW, it is the case that FDD like it is actualized software with this entry system and the DRT-DM, the packet light/write software by so far it tries to be able to use from the entry function of the folder and the file unit general-purpose. Of course, in order to actualize this, the OS which corresponds becomes necessary, (at this point in time, it is the same as the Mt.Rainier).
