Besides the large update to Windows 10 expected this month, the OS will receive another large update next summer called Redstone. It should add extensions to the Edge browser and the ability to easily switch work between a desktop and mobile device.
It will take till summer next year before Microsoft introduces extensions in the Edge browser. It was one of the features most missed by users of the default browser in Windows 10. The extensions for Edge browser work just like they do on Firefox and Chrome. It's unknown whether they will be fully compatible with Chrome extensions yet.
The other feature that comes with the Redstone update is the possibility to switch between devices while being able to continue with what you were doing. That means that if you are working on something on your Windows 10 mobile, you can switch to your Windows 10 desktop and continue working on it. The operating system will synchronize the state, so you can continue where you left of.
At the beginning of this month Microsoft will also release a large update that is codenamed Windows 10 Threshold 2 and should introduce an improved Media Creation Tool, new locales and other new features for Cortana and various Edge improvements.
Microsoft will likely add more features in Redstone but these two are reportedly the ones the company will surely introduce.
