Cnet.com reports the following that the FBI Tuesday conducted searches in 11 states to gather evidence as part of a national crackdown on Internet-based software piracy.
The investigation is targeted at Internet sites that make copyrighted material available for download, the agency said. |
The Theft Act, passed by Congress in 1997, makes it illegal to reproduce or distribute software programs and other copyrighted works.
