Mozilla today released an emergency update for its Firefox browser after it was made aware about a vulnerability that allowed a malicious websites to access private data from other sites. The issue was discovered by two security researchers independently. They both warned Mozilla which has made a patch available.
The vulnerability has been marked as 'high' but doesn't allow attackers to execute random code, such as installing malware on the computer. Mozilla nevertheless found the issue so severe that it decided it had to release an update before the release of Firefox 42, scheduled for the 3rd of November to fix it.
Updating can be done by downloading the update from the Mozilla website or through the automatic update feature.
