Although most consumers don't want to spend a large amount for a mobile phone, fashion company Giorgio Armani has introduced a new 700 Euro smartphone.
Powered by Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.5, the $1,000 Armani-Samsung smartphone offers both a touch screen and key pad, GPS, video player, and "coordinates perfectly with Giorgio Armani suits," the fashion company said in a statement. Furthermore, the phone also has a 3.5-inch AMOLED touch screen, 5-megapixel digital camera, and the video player supports the DivX/Xvid codecs.
The phone also has 8GB internal memory, HSDPA Internet support, with support for Internet Explorer, Microsoft Word and other Office programs.
The new phone was launched during an event in Milan at the end of last week -- and while Armani himself made an appearance -- he did not speak at the event.
Samsung has manufactured two other smartphones for Armani in the past, and it's unknown how many other phones the company will create in the continued joint effort. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer noted the new phone is " a statement of style" with no future deals expected with other fashion designers.
Aside from consumers looking to show off, expect people in Hollywood and in the fashion industry to purchase the new Samsung phone.
