Grokster, one of the popular file sharing
networks based on the FastTrack P2P protocol has announced that it will release
a Pro version of its software. Users who will pay $ 19.95 will receive the Pro
version that comes without any ads and/or adware.
release of the "clean" version of Grokster comes in response to a growing user demand and willingness to pay for a version of the software that is void of annoying pop-up ads and the cluster of optional software programs that accompany all of the major P2P software clients on the market today. According to Grokster president, Wayne Rosso, "Although Grokster is free software, the only way that we can afford to give it away is by utilizing advertising and software bundling. But with Grokster Pro we can offer the user a better experience at a reasonable price that still allows us to pay our bills." |
In a suit brought against Grokster by the RIAA and
the MPAA, last April US Federal Circuit Court ruled against the entertainment
industry and deemed Grokster to be in compliance with all US laws and a
