Hammer Storage internal 16x DVD writer review @ CDRLabs.com

Today our friends
of CDRLabs have posted a review on the Hammer Storage Internal 16x DVD writer.
This drive is based on the Panasonic SW-9585 and besides being dual format, it
also supports DVD-RAM. DVD-R and DVD+R discs are written at 16x, DVD-RW at 6x,
DVD+RW at 8x and DVD-RAM at 5x. Double layer is also supported and can be
written at a maximum of 4x.

Part of
conclusion:

Hammer's new drive did surprisingly well when
writing to DVD+R and DVD-R media at 16x. Even with its Z-CLV writing
method, it took a little more than 6 minutes to write an entire 4.7GB DVD.
The drive also turned in some fairly good writing times with DVD-RW and
DVD-RAM media, but for whatever reason it would not recognize any of our
8x DVD+RW media. Needless to say, this put the drive at a disadvantage in
some of our tests. Fortunately, writing to DVD+R DL media wasn't a problem
for Hammer's internal DVD writer. While not nearly as fast as the drives
from ASUS and Plextor, it was able to write 8GB of data in less than 27
minutes.

If you want to read the entire conclusion and of course
the tests on which it is based then head over to the CDRLabs
review.
