High-definition videodiscs: The route to a single standard

jef195 used our news submit to tell us "In in depth look at where High Definition DVD stands today."

Here is an article put up over at Tom's Hardware that we might want to take a peek at! It's a detailed synopsis of the next gen high capacity situation. Like we all know already, the time has come to get to business and yet it isn't happening, the squabbling continues. A lot of people, especially CD Freaks are even getting to the point where the fighting has dampened the excitement for us. How long will this go on?

Here is a snippet from the article, this is a quote from the spokesman for the Video Software Dealers Association - a trade group representing rental and sales outlets such as Netflix and Blockbuster:

Sean Bersell, a spokesperson for the VSDA, spoke in less grandiose terms. "The window for compromise is closing; it's getting smaller every day," he told Tom's Hardware Guide, "and it appears that rather than the two camps just jockeying for position on high-definition DVD, in terms of which format will be chosen, it appears there are significant disagreements between [them] that are not going to be easily bridged."

If your not yet completely clear on the situation and want to catch up, this is probably a good article to check out. You can find it here at Tom's Hardware.
