How excess legislation will kill your freedom of expression

New Architect has an editorial written by the co-founder of the Electronic Frontier Foundation. It states that the entertainment industry in the United States is trying to take control over freedom of the citizens of the United States.

Why isn't the public making a fuss? Why, at a time when the most basic principal of society'”the right to know'”is being turned into a criminal act, isn't there an army of outrage fighting to protect the free flow of human creativity?

I encourage you to consider what's at stake and at least inform yourselves of the constraints that have been imposed on your ability to share. Learn about the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and the Bono Copyright Extension Act (which essentially gives the media mammoths the ability to prevent the sharing of creative work for 175 years). Learn about similar initiatives that are about to be imposed on the whole planet by the World Intellectual Property Organization

I would also like to mention that for people in countries where speaking out what you want is dangerous this all might sound stupid and a lot of fuzz about nothing, but when you have freedom you should fight for it to keep it, because it's one of the most precious things in life.
