During Fashion Week at Bryan Park in New York City last night, Hewlett-Packard showed off the Vivienne Tam Digital Clutch laptop.
The laptop is aimed at women looking for laptops with elaborate paint designs, and is the successor to the HP Mini 1000. It has an 11.6-inch screen with a thinner body than the Mini 1000, has a new hinge, though not much else is known about it. Full hardware specs are expected to be announced in the coming months, computer analysts believe.
Interested consumers will be able to pick up the laptop sometime next spring, and the retail price is expected to be extremely pricey. I'm not sure what to make of this device -- if the hardware is powerful enough, then I see this product being able to succeed to such a niche market. Then again, with a paint design like that, perhaps HP will be able to use less powerful hardware and still get away with charging a premium price.
