iTunes Music Store passes 250 million mark

GristyMcFisty used our news submit to tell us that Apple has reached
the 250 million song download milestone, with daily music downloads hitting
1.25 million a day. Steve Jobs commented that when Apple first launched the
iTunes store they were hopping to sell just 1 million songs in its first 6
months of operation but now it was now selling over 1 million songs a
day.

The Apple iTunes store
currently has 70% of the worldwide digital music downloads market with 15 stores
in Europe, USA and Canada. Along with high demand for
music from its store, this has helped Apple shift even more of their hard disk
based digital music players the Apple iPod, with a massive 4.5 million sold in
the last quarter.

Downloads from the iTunes Music Store have passed 250 million, with the daily rate reaching 1.25 million songs."When we launched the iTunes Music Store we were hoping to sell a million songs in the first six months - now we"re selling over a million songs every day, and we"ve sold over a quarter billion songs in total," said Steve Jobs, Apple"s CEO.

Apple claims 70 per cent of the worldwide
market for downloads, with 15 stores in Europe, the US and Canada. The
figures will doubtless have been boosted by sales of the iPod. Apple
shifted 4.5 million in the last quarter and expects that level of success
to continue through 2005.

Apple just keeps going from strength to strength, i remember the days when
Apple was on the decline, this sure has turned things around for them.
