While there are a wide range of CD & DVD duplicators on the market, the majority are designed to function as a standalone disc duplicator without design for PC connectivity or portability, much like an office photocopier. ILY Enterprise which specialises in advanced duplication technologies has developed the Industry's first lightweight CD/DVD duplicator, known as the SlimDVDup.
Like any other CD/DVD duplicator, it can make copies of both unprotected DVD and CD optical discs without any PC with a simple step-by-step process using its LCD display. It is fairly light at 4lb (1.8kG) with dimensions of 6" x 7" x 1.5" (15.2 x 17.8 x 3.8 cm). It handles CD-R (up to 16x), CD-RW (8x), DVD+/-R (up to 4x), DVD+RW (up to 4x) and DVD-RW/RAM (2X). It also handles various multisession/mode discs and 8cm mini CD/DVD's including Business card CD-R's.
Other copying features include automatic verification, rewritable disc erasing and disc ejection at end of cycle. Like a multifunction printer/copier/scanner, this duplicator features a USB 2.0 connection to function as an external DVD-ROM and CD/DVD-Recorder drive with up to 8-speed DVD-ROM read back. It also can play Audio-CD's as a standalone unit through its headphone jack. This duplicator is expected to ship early October, although no pricing has been mentioned.
