Information about Plextor drives & SD2 copies...

CDR-Info has visited the CeBit 2001 booth and looked for new things. They have an article about the new plextor drives soon to be released and their future plans. As the reactions of our previous newsposting already noticed

there is also something about the problem with SD2 and plextor drives. I first thought this was plextor's fault that SD2 games can't be copied with plextor drives. But read this:

A recorder capable of making working backups for SD2 protected CDs in all CD-ROM/DVD-ROMs...The problem is in the Sanyo chipsets, which Plextor and many other manufacturers uses. So there isn't much that Plextor engineers can do about until a newer Sanyo chipset fix it... Desperate users look for a Philips based solution.

Seems like it's not only plextor's fault, but the manufacture of the chips: Sanyo. In fact plextor do want a SD compatible drive and they are working on it! So don't blame plextor to much!
