INQ shows off Mini 3G social networking phone

One provider at a time, INQ is finding mobile phone service providers to pick up its Mini 3G phone that includes features that other consumers must download and install after the phone arrives.

The Mini 3G, with incorporated social networking features, is aimed specifically at teenagers and young mobile phone owners.

"One of the biggest operators has chosen us," said Frank Meehan, INQ CEO, who spoke with Reuters.  "This is confirmation that we are serious.  Operators are not looking at only differentiating at the top-end, but now they look at many price levels."

Most recently, the phone was picked up by Singapore Communications, as the phone manufacturer continues to look for Asian supporters.

The phone company prides itself in being the first to manufacture a phone that includes a native Twitter app directly on the phone when it ships.  Similar to several other INQ phones, including the company's flagship INQ1, the Mini 3G will also integrate Facebook, the No.1 social networking site, along with other popular services.

INQ beat the likes of Motorola and Nokia to the social networking phone craze, a move that has force them to play a game of catchup.

Companies such as Apple and RIM have a stranglehold on the phone market in the U.S., which makes it extremely difficult for smaller manufacturers to release products.  But across Europe and the rest of the world, companies such as INQ have a legitimate chance to cash in with the Mini 3G and similar devices.

Moving forward, INQ also said it will utilize Google's Android OS in some of its handsets, giving Google another important open source supporter.
