The Japanese company IO Data announced today that it
plans to ship the NEC ND-2510A double layer burner already by the end of this
month. Besides the support for writing DVD+R DL the specifications for the
ND-2510A are the same as for the ND-2500A and as we reported yesterday some
ND-2500A owners have already tried to flash their drives with a leaked ND-2510A
firmware.

IO Data will ship the drive with
an extensive software package including B's Recorder GOLD BASIC Ver.7, B's
CLiP5, Photoshop Album 2.0 Mini, Ulead DVD Player, VideoStudio 7 SE, DVD
MovieWriter 3 SE, PhotoImpact 8 SE and COOL 3D 3.0 SE for a suggested retail
price of 19800 Yen (~175 US dollar). IO Data will also release an
external USB 2.0/Firewire version, the DVR-iUN8W, with a MSRP of 24200 Yen
