GristyMcFisty used our news submit to tell us that iRiver has set it's sites on the iPod mini market with a new full color screen player. Featuring a 1.5in color display, photo viewer, voice-recording, FM radio and a text viewer. The player will feature Microsoft's PlaysForSure branding.

In case you didn't know, PlaysforSure is a logo that will be used to help understandably befuddled consumers learn if a player is compatible with their favorite online music source. The reason for this is of course, that some players wont play any DRM music at all while others will play some such as Napster, but not iTunes. This is an unfortunate situation and a lot of people don't have the inclination or desire to figure out which player does what.
