Japanese Logitec announces new 8x dual format DVD-recorder

The Japanese Logitec company has announced a new dual format DVD-recorder that supports 8x DVD+R recording. Besides
that the drive, model LDR-X840AK, supports 4x recording to DVD+RW and DVD-R
media and 2x recording to DVD-RW media.


The Japanese product page mentions that the drive
is manufactured by Plextor and thus, judging from the looks of the drive,
it's based on the Plextor PX-708A DVD-recorder. Here's part of

The LDR-X840AK the ATAPI (the Ultra ATA/33) is built-in type
DVD±R/RW unit of correspondence. The entry for the DVD+R, the DVD+RW, the
