Since last Saturday Japan is the first country where you can watch 3-D TV. A new TV from Hyundai IT allows a viewer to watch TV shows in 3-D, by simply wearing special glasses. Last Saturday the model, called E465, went for sale in Tokyo for something around $4,980.
Special 3-D content that's offered by Nippon BS Broadcasting can be watched. The broadcaster delivers one hour of 3-D content per day, but it's expected that they will offer more content when the product has reached a larger amount of consumers. Current plans even indicate that the broadcaster will deliver live 3-D sports content by this year's summer or fall. Who knows, maybe you will enjoy the Olympics in 3-D.
In August a 32-inch model will be introduced at a lower price of $2,000. Besides models that need special glasses, Hyundai announced that a 50-inch model that doesn't need any glasses is currently in works. Other companies, like Samsung, will demonstrate their models at NAB in Las Vegas this week. Samsung isn't marketing the product yet.
