Kingston has announced an USB drive with USB Type C connector. The DataTraveler microDuo 3C flash drive has two ports which allows the drive to also work with "regular" Type A USB (up to USB 3.1) connectors. The drive becomes available in 3 capacities of 16, 32 or 64GB.
The drive should become available later this month, according to Kingston's press release. The company specifies maximum read speeds of 100MB/s for all capacity variants of the drive. The write speeds are different, the 16GB is able to write at 10MB/s, while the 32 and 64GB models are able to write up to 15MB/s.
The device has measurements of 3 x 1.6 x 8 cm. The USB Type C connector is protected by a plastic cover that can be folded up. The regular Type A connector is not protected.
The speed of the drive is disappointing, recently we posted about a test of 43 USB drives of which most were able to outperform this drive on all occasions.
