The number of legal music downloads in the United States has dramatically decreased last year. The numbers are reported by Nielsen Soundscan. In contrary to downloads, the usage of legal music streaming services has grown. Music streaming services saw an increase of 54% and in the United States 164 billion tracks were streamed.

The number of music downloads dropped with 12% followed by a decrease of album downloads of 9%. Vinyl records did very well in 2014. The vinyl market saw a growth of 52% but only account for 6% of the music market.
