LG GCE-8520B (52/24/52) review @ CDRLabs.com

CDRLabs.com has posted their latest review of the LG GCE-8520B CD-recorder. This LG drive can read and write discs at 52x maximum and also supports the US-RW (Ultra Speed) re-write standard of 24x:

With many companies shipping drives with 52x writing speeds, LG has answered the challenge with their own 52x writer. The GCE-8520B reads and writes at 52x and rewrites at a blazing 24x. Thanks to its MediaTek chipset, the GCE-8520B also has features like Super Link buffer underrun protection, a 2MB buffer and support for the Mt. Rainier format. To top it off, LG has included one of the most popular CD burning software suites available.

Part of the Conclusion:

When it comes to writing and rewriting, the GCE-8520B is one of the fastest writers we've tested. While the drive's average writing speed is a little slower than some of the other 52x writers we've looked at, it flew through our writing tests blowing away the drives from ASUS and CyberDrive. Unfortunately, this performance doesn't come without a price. Media that worked fine at 52x with other drives would not always write at this speed with the GCE-8520B. For the most part, the drive's writing quality was pretty good. However, it did have a few issues with some of the more problematic media from Ritek and CMC.

Although the LG GCE-8520B had some negative points it still gets an overall score of 8. Of course this figure alone does not tell you how well the drive performed during the various tests. For that you'll have to check our the complete review here.
