LG Electronics is at CES showing off its BD590 Blu-ray player that has a 250GB hard drive for owners looking to store and play content without physical media.
Using the MusicID feature, the BD590 is able to copy and archive music CDs. The player also includes video and movie sales through VUDU. Content can be stored or streamed directly using the BD590, as consumers have long called for a Blu-ray player with a large internal storage capacity.
"LG is committed to offering consumers easier access to more content-on-demand, which is reflected in our 2010 line of Blu-ray products with new content partners, advanced technology and unique design," said Peter Reiner, LG VP of marketing, in a statement. "As the pioneer in providing content-on-demand options for consumers, LG builds on this reputation by offering full product lines designed to help consumers transform their home entertainment experience into something better."
CES 2010 has featured a number of different Blu-ray announcements, with the high-definition technology finally winning over consumers. Even for people just looking to store content that can be easily accessed on a TV, the LG BD590 Blu-ray player is now a good option.
LG also announced the BD570 and BD550 Blu-ray players -- the BD570 doesn't have a hard drive, while the BD550 doesn't have Wi-Fi. Furthermore, all NetCast products from LG will have Vudu ship as a pre-installed, free application so consumers can access even more content from the popular on demand provider.
