Lite-On LDW-401S DVD+R(W) review @ CDRLabs.com

On the CDRLabs.com
website we can find a review of Lite-On's first DVD recorder, the
LDW-401S. The drive supports the DVD-R(W) recording format and can write both
DVD+R and DVD+RW media at 4x. Besides that the drive also supports fast CD
recording and re-writing speeds of 40x CD-R and 24x CD-RW:

While Lite-On took a little longer than many expected to ship
their first DVD+R/RW drive, it was definitely worth the wait. The LDW-401S
is one of the best DVD writers we've tested. For the price, it's hard to
beat the performance and features Lite-On's new drive offers.

With drives offering 8x writing speeds starting to hit
store shelves, the LDW-401S isn't the fastest DVD writer around. However,
its 4x DVD+R and DVD+RW writing speeds should more than satisfy the needs
of most. As it is, the drive performed very well in our tests, turning out
some of the fastest DVD+RW writing times we've seen.

Is the LDW-401S the best
solution for you? It's hard to say. If you don't need to write to DVD-R/RW
media, the LDW-401S is an excellent choice. However, if you're looking for
the flexibility a dual format DVD writer offers, you might be better off
with a drive like the Sony DRU-510A, Plextor PX-708A or if you're on a
budget, Lite-On's new DVD±RW, the
LDW-411S.

The Lite-On LDW-401S drive can be bought online for around $ 113
USD. Because of this low price and the drive's good all-round performance
CDRLabs.com awards the Lite-On drive with their Best Buy Award. If this has made
