It looks like Ian over at CDRLabs has just put the finishing touches on a review of the very interesting 1673 DL writer. This is a DVD writer that scoffs at the + or - format rubbish and just writes at 16x to either...or does it? That's what we want to know! Besides 16x DVD±R, this drive can do 8x DVD+RW, 6x DVD-RW and 4x DVD+R DL writing, with up to 16x DVD reading. In addition, the 1673 features 48x CD reading and writing, with 24x rewriting speeds.
| When it comes to features, the SOHW-1673S is very similar to Lite-On's previous DVD writers. Along with a 2MB buffer, the drive features things like Lite-On's own SMART-BURN, SMART-X and Vibration Absorber System (or VAS) technologies. The SOHW-1633S also has a good number of writing and rewriting speeds to choose from as well as the ability to set the book type of DVD+R/RW and DVD+R DL media. To top it all off, Lite-On has included a great software bundle containing a number of applications from Nero and CyberLink.
