Mac Xtreme Technology, a leading maker of Mac computer hardware components has unveiled its SATA MX-KATANA 6Gbps series of SSD modules. These feature the second generation SandForce controller and are capable of delivering up to 510MB/s read, 450MB/s write and a 4KB random IO performance of up to 60,000 IOPS.
These SSDs come in a choice of 240GB and 480GB and both have a low-profile SATA 3.0 interface. These modules are designed to be an ideal upgrade option for the MacBook Air 2010 and 2011 over the stock SSD, especially for any serious Mac DIY enthusiast. Both SSDs feature a 2 million hour MTBF, power consumption of 1.6W idle and 2.8W active and are backed by a 2-year warranty.
