Microsoft's Edge browser will soon feature a built-in adblocker. The information comes from a session titled "Microsoft Edge: What's Next for Microsoft's New Browser and Web Platform" that was held during Microsoft's BUILD conference and spotted by Ed Bott from ZDNet.

Currently most browsers don't have built-in functionality to block ads, most browsers require a plugin or extension in order to add that feature. Only smaller browsers like Opera and Brave natively support ad blocking. Edge will now soon also support this natively.
Edge is the default browser in Windows 10 and is Microsoft's second browser after Internet Explorer. The browser is currently less feature packed but Microsoft is rapidly adding new functionality.
Besides built-in ad blocking, Edge will also get built-in site translations powered by Bing and support for extensions. Adblock, Amazon, OneNote, EverNote and LastPass plan to release Edge extensions this year.
The new features are part of a large Windows 10 update named Windows 10 Anniversary Update. This will be released this summer and also adds the possibility to login to sites using biometric authentication such as with facial recognition or using fingerprints.
