More news on the britney hack

Who framed `wouter` or not??

The Britney Spears official website was hacked Friday The hacker left his phone number, suggesting either incredible stupidity or a setup.

The index page of britneyspears.com was defaced with the message: "britney got hacked http://www.digit-labs.org/britney.htm gtx wouter."

The link goes to a page on a hobby security site, Digit-Labs, which does employ someone by the name of Wouter.

The page displays a rant about how much "Wouter" loves Britney, and how he hacked britneyspears.com because the administrators ignored his warnings.

There is also a contact number and an email address. The number goes through to a Netherlands-based mobile phone which, when we tried, was switched off.

Given that the hacker defaced britneyspears.com, which was running Netscape on Solaris, it is feasible that he could have hacked digit-labs.org, which runs Apache on Linux, and placed the britney.htm file there as further false evidence to put Wouter in the frame.

But if Wouter really did hack the site and leave a trail back to himself, then he'll probably be singing "Oops, I did it again" all the way to the courtroom.
