CDRLabs.com has taken
a look at MSI's latest writer, the CR52-A2 drive (52/24/52). Here's part of
their conclusion:
 I'm not
really sure how I feel about MSI's new writer. The CR52-A2 is definitely
one of the best deals out there. While affordably priced, it has many of
the features found on more expensive drives. The drive also boasts some
pretty impressive specs like 52x reading and writing speeds and 24x
rewriting speeds. Of course, none of this really means much if the drive
doesn't have the performance to back it up. And unfortunately in this
case, there were times where the CR52-A2 came up a little
short.
Unfortunately, the
CR52-A2's writing and rewriting performance prevented us from giving it
our stamp of approval. With one of the fastest average writing speeds
we've seen, I expected MSI's new writer to turn in some pretty good
writing times. For whatever reason, the drive's actual writing times were
slower than some of the other 52x writers we've looked at. The CR52-A2
gave us a repeat performance in our rewriting tests. Here too, the drive
took longer than I expected to complete our tests. Of course, the drive's
inability to packet write and erase at anything faster than 16x didn't
help. |
As you can see CDRLabs.com wasn't that impressed with the
drive's performance but the drive does get an overall score of 8, partially
