Here we have a freeware application that acts as a seamless plug in for Windows Media Center Edition. With it, you have the ability to capture and organize your movie collection for easy navigation and playback. Whether you have your movies stored on your hard drive or if you have them still on optical disc, this program alone can make Media Center Edition worth the effort to install. In my opinion, this is the ultimate movie collection management and playback tool for movie buffs.
The program can be added to the start menu listing of the MCE interface. From there, you can simply place a DVD in your drive, If you decide to add the title to your database, My Movies will query the Internet site of your choice, such as IMDB or Amazon, then automatically add the disc to your collection, along with all the pertinent information added for you. From that point on, you can browse your collection, view covers, read descriptions, see which actors star in a movie and much more. Not only that, but you can search by genre, director, MPAA rating, actors, among others or even create your own filters!
If you like to store your movies and videos to your hard disc, this is where My Movies really shines. Simply install AnyDVD, this program dovetails nicely with My Movies, then insert your disc and the process of copying a movie to your drive or network is completely transparent. My Movies program will ask if you want to watch the movie or copy the disc to your hard drive. You can then even select where to put movie -even with your remote control using the MCE "10 foot interface" no keyboard required, it's that simple.
Written by Swedish programmer Brian Binnerup, the software has been moving through several 1.xx versions and just today, finally, we have the 2.0 release! Some of the new
features in version 2 include support for series/box sets, multiple disc
titles Sony DVP-CX777ES DVD Changer support and Internet
trailers.

You can also share your movie database with multiple clients and even configure each client with its own parental control limitation. My Movies is available in about 10 different languages and movie data can be downloaded in English, German, French or Japanese.
If you are running Media Center Edition, if you like collecting movies or have a lot of video, then you are missing out if you have not tried this program yet. You can read more about the features by following this link to the My Movies home page. As always, this is a freeware program, but if you try it and you like it, please consider giving Brian a donation-he works on this program in his spare time, yet always seems to be around to support the program in his forum. My Movies Version 2 can be found at Download.com.
