Legnerp started a new thread in our NEC Forum on Club CD Freaks, to let us know that after several months the first official Firmware upgrade for the NEC ND2500A is available for download now. With this update the version number of the firmware is increased to 1.07.

This update only adds new media. Neither are current writing strategies changed, nor were there any software changes to resolve compatibility issues with writing software. This update does not enable dual layer burning. The following media were added to the firmware, but they are not added to the list of recommended media, as we cannot guarantee optimal results concerning writing/erasing and Reading. Feel free to join the discussion about this new version in the already existing thread. The Dangerous Brothers have already published a RPC1 and RipLock free version of this Firmware on their homepage.
But you might also consider using a patched firmware from our moderator Herrie
that enables Bitsetting support for this burner and enables writing at 8x for
several 4x media.
