NEC releases ND-1100A variant without DVD-R/RW in November

jsl was kind enough to use our newssubmit to tell us that NEC has released a variation on their earlier announced ND-1100A that was able to write to both DVD-R and DVD+R. The latest NEC model, the ND-1090A does only write to DVD+R(W).

The drive that will be available in November (the ND-1100A in December), will cost about €329 and writes DVD+R at 4x, DVD+RW at 2.4x, CD-R at 16x and CD-RW at 10x and reads CD-ROM at 40x and DVD-ROM at 12x.

Badly translated with BabelFish from German:

NEC announces an format-independent DVD burner. With the DVD burner Nd-1100a of NEC the user is not fixed on one of the again-recordable DVD formats: It has to use the liberty DVD.R(W) or DVD+R(W). One hour DVD video can be noted in only 15 minutes. The DVD+/ R(W) burner will be available in December. Already in November NEC brings the DVD+R(W) variant of the Nd-1100a with the ND.1090A on the market.
