wesociety reports us that yesterday Erik Deppe has released a new version of his Nero CD-DVD Speed software. With this software you can perform various tests using your optical drive. Tests include for instance read and write transfer rate, overburning tests and quality measurement tests (for a list of supported devices check here). Here is the changelog for Nero CD-DVD Speed version 3.10:
 CD-DVD Speed v3.10 Changes:
- Improved Disc Quality test
- Added support for older CD recorders and Combo drives (C1/C2 test)
- Added C2 error test for drives who can't report C1 errors
- Graph options are available by right-clicking on the graphs
- Small improvements and bug fixes
