New 8x dual format DVD writer from Accesstek/Optorite

Accesstek, maybe more known under is US branch Optorite, has updated its website with the specifications of an 8x DVD writer, the DD0401. The new drive supports 8x/4x DVD+R/RW, 4x/2x DVD-R/RW, 40x/24x CD-R/RW and, just like the previous models, also HD-BURN which doubles the capacity of a conventional CD-R.

The DD0401 should already be available under the Optorite brand and with Google I found one store that sells it for as low as US$ 165. According to Optorite the DD0401 should be able to burn in 8x speed also on 4x DVD+R media from TDK, Imation, Sony, Maxell, Memorex and Verbatim (most likely that means 4x DVD+R media manufactured by Ricoh and MCC).
