PPK used our newssubmit to tell us that the latest Lite-On writer will be released soon. The Lite-On writers are known and loved for their abilities to copy certain copy-protections and this new model with write speeds of 48/12/48 will most likely also be a winner. Too bad it still has these slow re-write speeds of only 12x:
As you will certainly know many manufacturers of writers are launching their new CD writers, able to write at a record speed of 48x to CD-R's. Today it is known that the Liteon manufacturer should release such a writer very soon.

Liteon 48x12x48, it is its name, will thus offer speed of 48x writing and 12x in mode CD-RW while the reading mode will be ensured by a speed 48x.
This new engraver will be also be equipped with the SmartBurn technology which makes it possible to find the speed of optimal writing according to the quality of used CD. One will also note the presence of a technology similar to BurnProof to avoid the errors of writing related to the buffer memory and allowing to reduce the sound nuisances related to the vibrations.
Its selling price in Japan east currently of 16.000 Yens is approximately 140 euro, whereas the model 40x is sold under the bar of 105 euro including all taxes.
Very nice Only I wonder if it's really worth the extra money over the 40x Lite-On model. The only difference I see is its increased writing speed and maybe the P-CAV write method. But the Lite-On 40x will probably also be able to use this method via a firmware upgrade...
