New Plextor with Firewire

This new Plextor is an awesome piece of work. It looks like a dream, but doesn't perform as good as the IDE version.

This new plextor is the same as it's ATAPI sister but greatly simplifies the installation and mobility, by providing the Firewire interface.

It is interesting to note that the Que! Fire 16/10/40 performs pretty much on par with its internal sister, the Plextor Plexwriter 16/10/40 drive, on all of the non-bandwidth related tests (CD-RW formatting, Quick Erase, Access Time, etc…).

When it comes to the tests that rely mostly on the bandwidth of the interface (read / write tests), the Que! Fire drive doesn't perform quite as well. Since we know that these two drives have identical innards, this performance difference can be attributed to the different interfaces (IDE vs. Firewire).

It has already been reviewed, take a look.

Update: It seems like it is shipped as a QUE.
