During the Comdex 2002 Fall show Peter Chernin who is the chief operating officer for NEWS.CORP gave a keynote address and stressed that
"I am here to call for a partnership that can lead to long-term explosive growth, Chernin said. Stealing content is destroying opportunities for digital entertainment. ... Business will be crippled" |
He indicated the file trading programs are a source of headache to the music industry and eventually that headache will spread to the movie industry unless media and tech companies can act together to encrypt anything that carries a digital signal and in the past that marriage has been successful in preventing piracy.
You have media companies that are hesistant to support companie(s) that produce DVD Burners and DVD Recorders and on the other side you have computer companie(s) that are proud show off their hardware in the latest computers.
So is there a solution? I have always thought that if you tell people that they can't do this they will always find a way around it just to prove you wrong.
