Research by Laptopmag found that calling the helpdesk of computer manufacturers with technical issues often results in the advice to remove Windows 10. The website called the help desks of Dell, HP and Lenovo with laptop issues and often heard that Windows 10 might be the cause of their problem.
The support employees often appeared to be badly educated, they often didn't understand system settings one would expect them to understand such as how to put Cortana in always-listening mode. Laptopmag also reports that instead of help they were often presented with a sales pitch for extended support.
The advice to move away from Windows 10 is a structural issue, a spokesman from Dell states that a rollback of Windows is used to troubleshoot issues. The computer manufacturer specifically mentions that it continues to provide Microsoft with feedback and that the company stays loyal to Windows 10.
Also HP is still fully behind Windows 10 but a spokesman of the company explains that their primary care is getting users back working and therefore the advice to remove Windows 10 is given, "at the end of the day, the person's job is to get the PC running", he said.
Both HP and Dell support employees didn't advice users to upgrade to Windows 10. A helpdesk employee of Dell even stated that Windows 10 contains a lot of bugs.
