DVDR16LSK
is the model name of Philips' first DVD writer featuring support for LightScribe. In case you somehow have missed what
LightScribe is, it's a technology developed by HP that makes it possible to burn
a label on specially coated discs using the DVD writer's
laser. Besides burning nice labels the DVDR16LSK also supports
writing 2.4x DVD+R DL, 16x/4x DVD+R/RW, 8x/4x DVD-R/RW and 40x/24x
CD-R/RW.

As you can see the DVDR16LSK has essentially the
same specifications as the Philips DVDR1640K had initially. Now the DVDR1640K
has however received a
firmware update that enables support for writing 16x DVD-R and 4x DVD+R
DL. Hopefully the DVDR16LSK will also receive a similar update because 8x
DVD-R and 2.4x DVD+R DL write speed is a bit slow for a new DVD writer.
The retail version of the DVDR16LSK including Nero 6 software suite is
expected to ship in March for €99.90 according to PC-welt.de.
More information about the DVDR16LSK is available in the PDF file here (in French).
