Pioneer expands European Blu-ray line-up

After introducing a new line of Blu-ray players in the US in March, Pioneer now refreshes its European line-up. Four new Blu-ray players will soon be available in the United Kingdom and offer 1080p playback, 12-bit HDMI outputs and Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD Master Audio.

The main problem with Blu-ray is the high price for a less than complete product, so-called Profile 1.1. This time three of the four 'refreshments' are Profile 1.1., which means you will not be enjoying the next-gen interactive Blu-ray movies. Some customers see this as a rip-off, while others don't mind since they aren't planning on starting a chat session with the director anyway. They just watch a movie.

Pioneer's BDP-LX91 is the only BD-Live compatible refreshment, but will definitely cost you a lot. Prices are still unclear for Europe, but this Profile 2.0. Blu-ray player will hit the market during the winter.
