Players of a pirated version of the game Quantum Break will see the main person Jack Joyce wearing an eyepatch with a pirate skull. In some cases the eyepatch is also shown in legitimate versions of the game.
On its forum the developer of Quantum Break, Remedy Games, explains why user see an eyepatch. Their FAQ states, "Jack looks like a pirate", which is then answered by, ''DRM might've accidentally triggered. Make sure you've logged into your Microsoft account before starting the game".
A Reddit user discovered that the eyepatch sometimes also appears in a legitimate version of the game which is why Remedy Games advises users to make sure they're logged in to their Microsoft account.
The new anti-piracy method isn't new, Remedy Games used the same on its previous game Alan Wake.
Quantum Break became available yesterday on the Xbox One and PCs running Windows 10.
